1960 Blue Triumph TR3A
We at Fender and Broad love these side screen TR cars. We have been privileged to own, race, rally and show some of the very best and most famous of these cars. This car is a beauty.
The Triumph TR series started life with the TR2 in the mid fifties and evolved over the years before the final volume sidescreen car known as the 3A preceded a small number of 3B’s and then then all new Michelotti designed TR4 arrived in the early 60’s.
This particular car is a UK right hand drive vehicle retaining its original body, engine and registration number. This car was delivered new to Carlisle in March 1960 as one of the last of the production. The majority of its life was spent in this part of the UK. The V5 log book history is detailed with the original buff logbook detailing the car was powder blue when first sold to James Stephenson of Whtehaven on the 16th March 1960.
The buff logbook details all the further owner and a colour change to green before the car recently enjoyed a body off chassis virtually conours rebuild. The chassis was restored by TR specialist CTM and the body was equally lavished with a full restoration be marquee specialist North Devon Metalcraft. There are photos of this work and the rest of the car was equally treated to every nut and bolt being carefully restored and fitted back to the car. The car as it stands is very hard to fault. The trim has newly covered seats and the weather equipment is new with the plastic on the sidescreens still in situ.
Originally the car was supplied with wire wheels and the only changes we may make will be to return the car to wire wheels and arguably uprate some of the suspensions. The engine and overdrive gearbox work well and the car is presented in a condition to drive and enjoy right now.
Sold with 12mth 3000mile engine and gearbox warranty and a fresh MOT. The history file is superb and represents a great chance to own a rare and well restored TR3A
