Jaguar Mark I
The Mark I Jaguar is one of our favourite cars. Both Guy and I love them.
This right hand Mark I Jaguar is structurally absolutely solid, presents beautifully in the classic black and red colour combination. The wire wheel conversion is a recent upgrade and the car sits perfectly and looks very bonny indeed.
Originally exported to sunny dry South Africa in 1957 but repatriated in 1960. The history file is really comprehensive and documents the life of the car with heritage certificate and supporting papers for export and indeed import together with buff log book. It’s a fascinating read
The car has a sweet 2.4 litre engine and this works perfectly mated to the 4 speed manual gearbox.
The cabin is simply lovely. Gorgeous red leather, and carpets compliment beautiful wood dash and supporting cappings. The Mark I is a fine place to sit.
On the road the car behaves well, revving freely with a nice gearbox. The drum brakes need a good shove but pull the car up well.
In the past we have turned these early Mark I’s into magnificent ‘wolves in sheep’s clothing’ with a suite of Guy Broad upgrades. This car is a fabulous as is. BUT we could put a ‘hot’ 3.8 litre engine mated to 5 speed gearbox, 4 pot calliper disc brakes, some Coombs spats, maybe a louvered bonnet. Power steering and some suspension upgrades would make it an outstanding car to drive.
So, it’s a great car as is. BUT you could have a riot of fin with this lovely Mark I. It’s POA because of the options that are available. Phone for a chat
