- This car was featured in the UK TV drama series 'The Royal' making this a unique and historically significant car.
A DVD of the episodes of The Royal is included with the car.
The car is a true survivor having spent all its life in East Yorkshire until 2017.
Bought new in 1963 from a VW dealer in Hessle.
After the first owner passed away it was willed to the second owner who was not a Beetle man and consequently he stored it in a garage on blocks for 18 years.
When the second owners son grew up he began to use the car driving it approximately 2000 miles a year for the next 30 years.
There is a large history file including the original Handbook and many MOT certificates and tax discs dating back to 1985.
A pile of receipts show this car has been well cared for and serviced all its life.
This is a completely original and unrestored UK RHD Beetle, something that is increasingly rare.
This car has had minimal welding and retains its original heater channels and floorpans in good solid condition, it's incredibly rare to find this!
The interior is all original and was protected by heavy PVC covers until 1984 and looks amazingly clean. Even the headlining is original with no damage.
Carpets are recent replacements from a few years ago whilst the original rubber floor cover is retained. The original radio blanking plate is retained and a period accessory Motometer temperature gauge is fitted above (currently not connected).
Original matching numbers 1200cc engine which runs very sweetly and starts first time.
The carburettor (original) has recently been stripped and ultrasonically cleaned before being rebuilt with all new parts.
Consequently the engine response is smooth and crisp.
Sometimes the word patina is used incorrectly to describe a car that is just plain worn out and in poor condition needing restoration before it can be used.
However in this case it is used in the correct way to describe a car in nice original condition that does not need restoration to be enjoyed.
Indeed it would be a pity to restore this beautiful car as it retains all its charming history.
This is a car to keep exactly as it is and nurture and cherish it maintain it.
