The TR5/250 was the final iteration of the Michelotti design that sensationally followed the sidescreen cars that started the TR series. Evolution not revolution was the Triumph way and the interim transitional period from the TR4 to the TR6 gave us the most desired of all production TR’s in the TR5 and 250 range. The TR5 gave 150bhp through the introduction of Lucas fuel injection. The TR250 was exported to predominantly the USA equipped with the sweet 6 cylinder 2500cc engine mated to twin SU carburretors. Less BHP but more reliability as it turned out

This TR250 returned from the USA as a ‘dry state’ car that was restored to concours standard by the army of TR specialists supporting these great cars today. This restoration was completed a decade ago and the car has been sparingly used since. As such the car is a superb driving beautiful car requiring nothing. The Jasmine paint with black trim is as per the original build sheet on file and the paint and trim are in outstanding order as is the wooden dashboard, gauges and carpets. The car was restored under the careful eye of a TR enthusiast owner who was most particular about detail. Sadly deceased the car stands a tribute to his fastidious attention to detail and a new owner will be the beneficiary of that fastidiousness

The car has all the desirable features for this type of car. The Surrey roof has a detachable hard and soft centre section making the car versatile in its use options. The 2500 engine is very sweet and the overdrive gearbox works perfectly. Sitting on chrome wire wheels with near new tyres and supplied with a super history file detailing the restoration with all the appropriate papers and photos to back up the restoration

On the road this car is well balanced and a very capable sportscar. The engine is so smooth in its power delivery and the gearbox is a delight to use. Suspension upgrades give added balance when driving the car hard. This car may not have fuel injection BUT it will take any new owner as fast as they are capable of driving and still have power to spare. Be under no illusion this is a very capable and well balanced sportscar looking for a new custodian to enjoy the car in this next phase of its life.
