Our Alfa Spider is a series 3 variant further described as Quadrifoglio Verde. This 2 litre Italian red beauty is everything we love about Alfa cars. Achingly pretty and just so engaging and enjoyable to drive. These cars make you feel ‘alive’ and driving a nice car is a thrill.

Here we have our 1989 S3 version which the owner has decided to part with after 4 years and buying our recently advertised Lotus Esprit. This car as most cars imported from Italy was converted to right hand drive under license by Bell and Colville from new.

There have been 6 owners over 35 years and most recently the car has been cherished and well maintained by the owner as evidence by a good amount of service invoices for routine maintenance and improvement from local specialist Alfaholics of Bristol. Additionally a brand new hood was fitted in 2022 and this presents perfectly. 4 new tyres in the last few hundred miles hint at a fastidious owner wanting to keep the Alfa looking sharp and running well. He managed his custodianship well and seriously and as such the car presents well and ready for a new owner to enjoy immediately

As with any 35 year old car the Alfa has the odd blemish to paint. We have decided to leave these as is to keep the price low for a new owner to purchase and improve the car if they wish. We can also fix the few blemishes in the paint work. Personally I wouldn’t bother and just enjoy driving the car.

Mechanically the 4 cylinder twin cam 2000cc engine is fed fuel through the traditional twin Weber carburretors which is the tried and tested method used by Alfa since the 1960’s. Why? Because it works and makes a great unique Weber sound. Easy to maintain and great fun to drive. Electronic ignition is an upgrade and the result of maintenance is a very pleasing car to drive with no signs of other work needed.

In the cabin there are a plethora of traditional Alfa gauges and dials all presented in the Alfa way. The seats are comfortable and hold the driver well when spiriting though the countryside in a sporting fashion. There is a small tear in the drivers seat which is a fix we can make happen. The steering is wonderfully direct and un assisted and the brakes are super too. The car gives great confidence and a lot of smiles. The hood is new mohair and professionally fitted. It gives absolute comfort when erect but is easily lowered for ultimate summer fun.

We have had lots of Alfa’s in this family and we love them. This car a very sensibly priced car that allows a buyer on a budget to buy the car and use it now with the option to make a few small improvements as they go along. Alternatively, come and see the car as it is and contract me to make the improvements for a fixed price.

The car is supplied with an MOT to April 2026 and a good history file of maintenance and past MOT’s. A lovely lovely car
