Description

The Aston Martin DB9 is one of the iconic cars of the last 50 years. Much has been written and the adoration across the motoring media is universal. There is rarely if ever a negative word written about the Ian Callum, Henrik Fisker designed follow up to the DB7. The Frankfurt Motor Show of 2003 saw its unveiling and worldwide acclaim immediately followed with order books filling up and waiting lists causing queue jumping influencers seeking to get their car first. Such was the case with this car ordered by a Lorded gentleman. Over the following 12 years 16500 DB9’s were made and they blend that 007 association with style and brutal pace from the V12. Racing DB’s followed and were hugely successful worldwide.

What sets this car apart from the many used DB9’s for sale is its low mileage for sure. However the real collector appeal is the mileage, service history, first owner a Lord owning the car for 18 years AND THE MANUAL 6 SPEED GEARBOX. Only 37 cars were allocated the 6 speed Getrag gearbox. That’s 37 cars out of 16500. Add to that this is the only car produced with this colour configuration and the collector appeal is obvious.

Listen to the video and see the photos. They are the best I can do to explain that this car is for sale without fault and fully serviced ready to be added to the most discerning collection

Supplied through Jackson Aston Martin of Jersey with PDI on 16/12/05 this special car was a Christmas present for its gentleman owner of what was to be 18years. A further 11 services up to date and a final service to prepare for sale have all been performed by Aston dealers or acknowledged Aston specialists. That’s a service every 1500 miles!

I have driven the car and it’s simply sensational on the road. A real attack of the senses when you slide into the drivers seat turn the key and depress the ‘start’ button with the V12 leaping into life and growling gently waiting for instruction from the drivers right foot. The clutch is light but positive and the gears easily engaged as you control the revs before changing gear. The car can be brutally fast with close to 500bhp on tap. The brakes are up to the task of scrubbing off the speed. The handling is pin point and the road manners sporty BUT not such that you couldn’t easily meander through town or glide down a country road with the soft top down.

The DB9 and in particular this manual DB9 can hold company with any car ten, twenty times this asking price because it is a manual DB9. A drivers car, a piece of Aston Martin history so exclusive that any sporting enthusiast will acknowledge the driving pedigree.

Yes, it is more expensive than one of its automatic brothers with the same mileage and pedigree. But many years after you have paid that bit extra you will be the proud owner and collector that saw the value in on of 37 made and the only one with this colour scheme. It’s a smart purchase of a sure to appreciate collector car. And as it does appreciate enjoy the car because it is fantastic
