Description
Please do not confuse this car with some of the other tired offerings in this price range. This is sensibly priced and NOT a tired old car.
Karosserie Baur are the German coachbuilder most synonymous for working with BMW back to 1910! They have been building BMW convertibles since the 1930’s. Over 10,000 examples across all ranges have been made by Baur. So let’s be very clear Baur and BMW know what they are doing!
Here we have a simply stunning example of the E30 3 series that now enjoys the UK status of being MOT and road tax exempt and ULEZ exempt too. As such this 3 series presents itself as a modern classic capable of being used as an everyday car.
B206MKP is according to the BMW owners club assessment on file ‘probably the finest example of the Baur I have seen’. Structurally the car is 100% solid with zero corrosion. The paint has a deep luster retained since a bare shell repaint back in 2002 costing over £7500. Recently the 323i has been fitted with a new gearbox with refaced flywheel and new clutch at the same time (£2700). The engine is very sweet and well serviced. I collected the car from York and drove 250+ miles back to the showroom without any issues at all.
On the road the car has very little wind noise and performs just as I used to remember these cars back in the 1980’s. Because of the condition and originality the car really is a throw back to arguably a ‘better time’. Originally ordered with power assisted steering and electric windows as extras both of which work as they should.
Supplied with the original dealer book pack and a well detailed and documented ‘enthusiasts’ record of all maintenance and restoration. Interestingly the Baur booklet is with the car too. This details how the convertible works. Essentially it couldn’t be simpler or quicker to remove fit the single removable segment. The hood is in excellent condition with the rear screen clear and having no faults. Watch my walkaround to see what I think of the car.
The only variance from when the car left the factory is a fantastic modern inobtrusive radio and an after market steering wheel. However the original wheel is with the car and will be fitted in time for
any viewings.
Paint perfect, gearbox refreshed, engine running sweetly, clean trim not messed with and excellent history for a very rare car. No road tax, or mot (though it has one) are needed and it can run in the ULEZ. Doesn’t get better does it?
