Description
The E Type is an icon of UK motoring heritage. Few cars worldwide carry the unbridled admiration for automotive excellence than the outstanding E Type. From the moment it was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 1960 it was a sensation and had the rich and famous clamouring for one. Even Enzo Ferrari described it as the most beautiful car built. They are stunning pieces of automotive excellence.
First off the line and last off the line are the collectors holy grail go to. So if you are clever enough to have a 1960 outside bonnet lock E Type flat floor (that you might not be able to drive if you are my size) then this V12 Commemorative is the book end you’ve been looking for
Here we have something very special. The Commemorative V12 Roadster is one of 50 worldwide right hand drive examples. All but one finished in Black with Cinnamon leather and carrying the Commemorative plaque signifying their exclusive place in Jaguar history. There are very few Jaguar cars that can hold such historic significance as this car. To add to the exclusivity only 31 of the 50 were manual gearbox examples. So, if rarity and exclusivity are part of your Jaguar checklist then here we have it
And what a car it is. Coming from a long term very discerning most fastidious owner chassis 1S 2855 presents better today than it did new in 1974. The gleaming Black paint is worthy of concours show standard and so it should be having been the recipient of a fully documented and photographed nut and bolt restoration including bare metal respray less than 500 miles ago totalling £65000. The original hardtop is also presented in the same condition and the hood frame was powder coated prior to receiving a new mohair hood. With gleaming chrome wire wheels shod with correct Dunlop SP Sport tyres this V12 Commemorative is worthy of the most fastidious collectors attention
Additionally the engine was entrusted to the outstanding and world renowned Peter Lander of Sigma Engineering for a strip and overhaul of the 38000 mile original engine. The engine with less than 500 miles since the overhaul will have a final check and service ready for the new owner
I could go on and on about how wonderfully presented this car is in detail and in the way the car is documented on the history file. Suffice to say you will not find better
I had the pleasure of collecting the car from near Goodwood and driving the car back to my showroom on a lovely summer day. What a pleasure to drive the car is. Faultless. Even the clock works! I have driven hundreds of E Type Jaguars in my time. But this car was truly special and I very strongly commend the car to the most discerning collector.
The car is priced at £199995 this being based around the very nice but inferior car sold at Iconic Auction BRDC race weekend sale in July. I viewed that car. This car is superior, and you can drive it before you buy it and you can have the confidence of Peter Lander servicing the car prior to your taking delivery
There is not a better example available today. I am confident in saying that. What a car. So rare and an iconic part of the Jaguar history
