PRE PRODUCTION DEVELOPMENT PRESS AND DEMONSTRATOR CAR

I’ve been doing this for a long time. Sometimes you get a notion of significance when you read a registration number. NUB120, 774RW, SKV656 are all famous Coventry numbers for famous Jaguar and Triumph cars. So when VX55EZK entered my peripheral vision I had a ‘hunch’ that this was a significant piece of Jaguar XK history. Flick through the service book and we can see the car was first registered to Jaguar Cars Ltd on 11/11/05 and yet this the X150 version of the XK superseding the X100 didn’t go on sale until the spring of 2006. The car is also fully loaded with every extra you could possibly put on these cars further confirming that we had a special car in our midst.

So to turn the hunch into a fact we apply for a Jaguar Heritage Certificate and we can officially see that VX55EZK was first registered to Jaguar Cars and acknowledged as a Jaguar Press Car. Delve a little deeper and you can find Quentin Wilson had the pleasure of using the car for several months and waxed lyrical about it ‘fighting’ with his wife for the keys!

The X150 Jaguar XK is that good of a car and this is for all the reasons stated a relevant and significant part of the history of the XK range of cars. Those in the know will tell you to buy the first or the last of the line as an investment. Here we offer for the sale the ‘first’ of the X150 line and it is exactly as Quentin Wilson described. These are fabulous cars and this piece of history is going to offer a lot of fun for very little money when you think of the history.

Following its work for Jaguar the car was released to a private buyer or Jaguar dealer network. Because of GDPR we do not know. What we do know is that the car has the following service history

11/11/05 PDI Inspection 22miles
27/11/06 Jaguar Cars Service 11136
27/07/07 Jaguar Dealer Service 14400
15/09/09 Jaguar Dealer Service 34588
20/04/11 Jaguar Dealer Service 43739
04/10/11 Jaguar Dealer Service 52378
18/06/13 Specialist Service 60093
17/12/15 Specialist Service 70588
15/04/19 Specialist Service 93517
05/05/ 23 Specialist Service 101812
October 2025 significant to be documented service by us at 105k

The car will be supplied to a new owner following a significant amount of service and investment by us. A new roof lining and a attention to various electrical gremlins plus new brake calipers, discs and pads etc. The car will come with a fresh MOT too.

I am reflective on whether we would have invested so much time and money in a ‘normal’ X150 Jaguar XK. I suspect not. BUT this is a piece of documented Jaguar history and if Quentin Wilson liked the car as much as we do then you as the prospective buyer will likely be thrilled with too.
